Introduction
Whether you’re purchasing your first piece of gear or you’re experienced in the outdoors, we want to make assembling your sleep system as easy as possible. This buyer’s guide is designed to give you resources to answer your questions.
The product page
Our product page can be a little daunting. There are a lot of options to consider as you make your order. We’ll walk you through the process of ordering a quilt or sleeping bag and give you resources to think about insulation types, temperature ratings, sizing, and fabric choices. At each step of the way, you’ll find links to detailed articles for further explanation.
For starters, let’s take a look at the product page for a Revelation Custom.
On the left side, you'll see pictures showing multiple angles of the item, and you'll be able to access our sizing guide specific to that product. On the right, you’ll see the name of the item you’re viewing, the price and weight for the current build, an estimate of our production lead time, and all your build options.
There are three sections we'll dive into below:
1) Pictures and sizing guide
This window will show you multiple angles of the quilt or bag. This will help you get a sense of the overall design details and become more familiar with your quilt or bag. Selecting colors/fabrics on the right-hand side will change the color of the images, so you can preview different custom combinations. If you want to see photographs of our quilts in action, make sure to click through the thumbnails. You can also click on any image on the product page to see a larger version.
Sizing guide
Underneath the pictures, you’ll find links in red:
The key here is the “sizing” link. That will take you to our sizing guide:
The sizing guide will take you through your measurements and sleep pattern to get you the best fit.
For the detail-oriented, we have a link to a finished product measurements and specifications sheet at the bottom of the sizing guide. You can visit this link for more detailed information.
2) Product name, price, weight, and lead times
On the right side of the product page, you’ll see the name of the product, the price and weight for the current build, and an estimate of our lead times listed at the top:
The price and weight will change with your build selections. If you need to be mindful of weight you’ll want to keep an eye on this section. Your selections will update in real time.
Please consider our lead times before ordering. We don’t have any ability to expedite orders. Our items are handmade, so crafting custom orders takes some time. If you have a big trip and no time, order an on-the-shelf model (those without the word "custom" in the product name). You can also check out the warehouse section of our website. You can read more about the differences between our warehouse, on-the-shelf, and made-to-order items.
3) Build options: insulation, temperature, length, width, and fabric
For more guidance on what each of these options mean, check out our guide on selecting specs, or click on the links in each section below.
Insulation
We have 2 down insulation options:
To understand fill power, take a look at our Insulation & Loft article.
Temperature rating
We have temperature ratings every 10º:
In general, we recommend ordering a temperature rating at or a category lower than the extremes you might face. To get a better sense of what a temperature rating means, you can read our Temperature article.
Length and width
Make sure to use the sizing guide to determine your best fit.
Fabric types and colors
Here you have the option to choose the material for the outside and inside of your quilt or bag:
When you click on the color options, you'll see the name of the color and the fabric weight. For outside fabric options, we have three weights: 7D, 10D, or 20D. For inside fabric options, we have two weights: 7D or 10D.
You can learn more in our colors and fabrics articles.
Getting ready for checkout
From there it’s as easy as filling in some information. Once your order has been submitted, you’ll get an email with a confirmation number. If you create an account, you'll be able to go back and check on the status of your order.
