Enlightened Equipment offers repairs on all our products for the lifetime of the item. When you have an item that needs repair, contact us and send pictures of the issue. We'll do our best to assess the damage and determine if this is something you can easily do at home, or it's something we need to do in our shop. It's rare, but sometimes a product can't be repaired because of extreme damage.
Repairs sent to our shop incur a base charge of $20, which covers the first hour of work, most materials, and return shipping back to you. If the repair takes longer than an hour or requires significant materials, additional charges may apply. You are responsible for shipping your item to us. If the issue is a production defect or is covered by our Limited Lifetime Warranty, we will cover the round-trip cost for the repair. See our Policies to learn more.
Here's more info on some common questions we get:
Tenacious Tape/Gear Tape is a high-bonding tape designed to adhere to fabrics of all sorts for repair. It can close small tears and holes, and it holds for years if applied well. It works on basically any fabric you’re likely to bring on your hiking and camping trips, so we recommend having a stash of it along with you for any of those little tears that come up from time to time.
Permethrin/insect repellents: As long as you follow the directions, we don’t know of any negative effects of using a Permethrin treatment on our products, provided it is designed for clothing and camping gear use. For any insect repellents, make sure that they are safe to use on nylon fabrics and that they are down and synthetic friendly.
Durable Water Repellent treatments: Over time, any DWR (durable water repellent) coating on a fabric will eventually break down or wear out, especially if exposed to frequent friction or sunlight. Aftermarket DWR treatments can be used to boost the moisture resistance of the fabrics in your quilt, but avoid treatments that require high heat to fully settle into the fabric. And remember, as with any aftermarket treatment, failure or malfunction is not covered by our warranty. We recommend and sell Granger's products for both cleaning and DWR maintenance.
